Interview with Anna Ellis
What inspired you to write Husbands and Wives series?
I was inspired to write my Husbands and Wives series – which is about a group of swinging neighbours – because I have a group of neighbours that I’m quite close to. Not that close, though!! But one day, I looked at everyone sitting around my living room, talking and laughing and drinking wine and thought…what if?
My latest series, Adults Only, came about as a result of that. I had wanted to get back into writing about swingers but didn’t want a rehash. My hubby came across an article in Maxim’s magazine or something like that, about a man who would travel around paying visits to women, at the bequest of their husbands. That got me thinking, what if there was a place to go where that happened. And I came up with Mrs. Robinson’s resort for swingers!
Can you tell us a little bit about the next books in Adults Only series or what you have planned for the future?
The next book in the Adults Only series will be about Iliya, who is one of the characters from my Touch series. She’ll visit the resort with her significant other, who played an important role Morena’s past.
After I finish the third Adults Only book, I’ll give the series a little break. My next project will be a full-length romance about Callie, the main character from Room Service. While I was writing it, I found myself wanting to know more about her. I hope my readers do too!
Can you tell us a little bit about the characters in Room Service?
There are three main characters in Room Service. Callie is from my Office Plays series, and is fun and sexy, and a bit wild, and just really likes sex. She’s ready for anything new. At the beginning of the book, she’d nursing a broken heart and looking for a way to get over him. She hears about Mrs. Robinson’s B&B that caters to the swinging crowd and decides a new experience would be a good way to get over Michael. Morena – Mrs. Robinson – is a sexy fiftysomething with a past out of a Jilly Cooper novel. She runs the resort with Lorde, her (also!) sexy handyman, who is in love with a woman he can never have.
You know I think we all have a favorite author. Who is your favorite author and why?
I can never pick just one! I’ve narrowed it down to three – J.K. Rowling, because of Harry Potter; Jane Austen, because of her wit and characters, and because Mr. Bennett is one of my favourite characters ever; and Jilly Cooper, who is a British author who writes the most delicious smut ever! I love all her books.
If you could time-travel would you travel to the future or the past? Where would you like to go and why would you like to visit this particular time period?
Because I love history, I would have to visit the past. Maybe if I could find a way to go back, I could finally write the historical fiction without doing all the research!! I would go back to Tudor England, in the time of Henry VIII.
Do you have any little fuzzy friends? Like a dog or a cat? Or any pets?
This is a contentious subject in our house! Hubby DOES NOT like animals. He tolerated my cat, Sebastian, because my aunt gave him to me as a kitten. But when we lost Sebastian a few years ago, that was it for him, to everyone’s dismay. At least it for anything fuzzy. I managed to convince him our son needed a bearded dragon for a pet, so we have Spyro the dragon, and we have fish. But I would love a dog.
