B is for Basil? But who’s Basil?

Day Two of the Blogging A- Z Challenge

What is it?

It all began 2010 when a blogger (not me – anyone know who I can credit for this?) challenged other bloggers to post every day for the month of April. If you take out the Sundays of the month, it makes 26 days – one day for each letter of the alphabet, and the challenge grew from there. There are hundreds of bloggers who participate and I’ll post the master list as soon as I get on it for those interested in checking it out. All you need is a website where you can post your blog and an idea to write about, referred to as a theme.

Books and Booze: The Characters of Anna Ellis and what they do for fun.

Today I’m talking with Basil, from the One Collection – One Summer, One Week, and One Night.

During their usual summer vacation at the Aurora Resort, Basil, his wife Jasmine, and their friends Billy and Claire discover that the resort isn’t the family friendly place they always imagined.

It’s a resort for swingers.

Hi Basil! Thanks for stopping by today.

“Happy to be here!”

What’s your favourite colour? Uh, blue? Is that ok?

Whatever colour you like. These are your answers. Favourite food? Whatever Jasmine makes me! Seriously, I do my fair share of the cooking, but Jas is the best. She makes this tandori chicken that is amazing

Farthest you’ve ever travelled? New Delhi

If you were a musician, what would your band/one name be?  I always wanted to be in a band, but it never happened. And now… life. As for a name, I’ll have to think about that—Basil and the Boys. I think that’s a good name, you think. The ladies would think it’s one of those boys bands, but that’s not a bad thing.

What’s your favourite 90’s jam? 90s? That’s…I was only a couple years old! But I guess I listened to a lot of Nirvana growing up. You wouldn’t think it to look at me now, but I was into grudge for a while.

Teenage crush (famous person) Kelly Kopowski. You know the girl from Saved by the Bell. I honestly don’t know the actress’s name, but you know who I mean? Man, I loved her.

Favourite body part Breasts. Am I allowed to say that. I guess I can clarify and say Jasmine’s breasts. But you know—and don’t tell Jas this—Claire’s are pretty spectacular. It still seems odd that I know that, but I’m not complaining!

The last book you read and was it good Barack’s book. It’s was pretty good. Jas wants me to read Michelle’s book too

Favourite alcoholic beverage? That watered down beer from Mexico. Not that it’s good beer, but there’s a lot of good memories from Mexico. Also, those fruity blue drinks were good. I have no idea what’s in them, but I know it was a lot of rum

Last question! Three words to describe you Uh…a little uptight, but fun. I know how to have fun! And I’m a good family man. I hope the kids never find out about Claire!

Thanks Basil! It was good to get to know you. Check back tomorrow when Callie Champlain from the Office Plays series, Room Service, and the new Anna series coming soon!

I’m back to blogging!

At least for the month of April. Once again, I’m attempting the Blogging A-Z Challenge after crashing just before the finish line in 2020.

Who can blame me? It was 2020.

But this is 2021—a new year with its own set of challenges. I’m going to focus on the one I can control.

What is the Blogging A- Z Challenge?

It all began 2010 when a blogger (not me – anyone know who I can credit for this?) challenged other bloggers to post every day for the month of April. If you take out the Sundays of the month, it makes 26 days – one day for each letter of the alphabet, and the challenge grew from there. There are hundreds of bloggers who participate and I’ll post the master list as soon as I get on it for those interested in checking it out. All you need is a website where you can post your blog and an idea to write about, referred to as a theme.

So, what’s my theme?

The theme for this year is:

Books and Booze: The Characters of Anna Ellis and what they do for fun.

I’ll be selecting a character from one of my books and giving them a few questions to answer, including what their favourite beverage is. And to begin with, I’ll let you know a bit about me – Anna Ellis.

As a bit of background, I’m an author of thirty-five novels, collections and short stories – books that are sexy and steamy and usually feature married couples enjoying the company of other married couples. I write in the erotic romance genre and I write about swingers.

Am I a swinger? I can’t tell you…yet. 🙂

Even though I get pretty dirty in my books, this will be a PG rated post. I can’t promise all of them well be 😉

Keep reading and I’ll provide a list of my books and where you can buy them. But even though this challenge will be full of self-promotion for me, I want it to be fun for you as well! So here we go!

Anna Ellis – Author

What’s your favourite colour? I like purple or a nice, dark red. Blue red, not too orangy.

Favourite food? Tonight I’m making burgers so I’ll go with that. I love a good burger with just the right about of melted cheese, maybe a bit of bacon, a slice of avocado and a slick slather of mayo. Hungry yet?

Farthest you’ve ever travelled? Vienna, Austria

If you were a musician, what would your band/one name be?  The Swingers

What’s your favourite 90’s jam? Alanis Morrissette – the whole Jagged Little Pill album

Teenage crush (famous person) Kirk Cameron. Which is slightly ironic (ironic – Alanis! :)) since I’ve heard he’s an uber-conservative who most likely would not appreciate my books! But, hey, he was really cute! And I just dated myself!

Favourite body part A man’s hands

The last book you read and was it good Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. And yes, very good!

Favourite alcoholic beverage? Dirty martini. And here’s how I make them!

  • 3 ounces gin
  • splash of dry vermouth
  • 1/2 ounce olive brine – we call it olive juice!
  • Garnish: 2 to 4 olives…or more. Helpful hint – Cerignola olives are my fav! They have a pit but are so meaty that it’s like you get a snack as well!

Shake gin and vermouth with ice, then add olives and juice. Cheers!!

Last question!

Three words to describe you Fun, feisty, and enthusiastic!

Blogging A-Z Challenge

I’m supposed to do a recap tomorrow but since my recap will be about how I dropped the ball on this one, I think I’ll do one last post today and call it a day!

The plan was to post every day in April (except Sunday). My theme was Covid-19, the first and last time I will ever write about it!  (Seriously – all my books will just bypass the first half of this year!) Using the letters of the alphabet, I was going to post about the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly about the pandemic.

I didn’t quite make it, the first time in about 4 attempts that I didn’t make it all the way through. For this, I apologize.

I will end with the letter W.

THE GOOD: The World – one of the few things good about this pandemic is that the world is getting a chance to breath and take a moment. Pollution is down, animal sightings are up and people (for the most part) are being kind to each other. Makes you think we might have a chance after this. We are in this together.

THE BAD: The World – for all the good stuff going on in the world, there is still a lot of bad. The scammers, people trying to take advantage of others, people willing to sacrifice others – I like to look for the best in people, but some people make it really difficult.

THE UGLY: That this is happening to the world. It sucks. It really does.

New Release! One Week is available now!

New Release News!

The second book in the ONE trilogy is out! Grab your copy now!

“well written, easy to read and very steamy!”

Three couples. One Week. Even more chances for fun.

Claire and Billy look at life as an adventure, so when friends Jasmine and Basil suggest a wife-swap during their summer vacation, they jump at the chance.  Now, as Jasmine and Basil join them in Mexico, it seems to be another perfect opportunity for a week of swinger fun.

But everything isn’t perfect: Claire keeps thinking about the nights she spent with Basil and Billy hasn’t told his wife about his tryst with Jasmine. It’s not the only secret Billy’s keeping—when friend Matt shows up at the resort with his new girlfriend, Emmy, she’s none other than Billy’s first love.

Things heat up quickly when Claire and Billy meet another couple. And isn’t it convenient that Morena knows all about being a swinger?

It’s time for a week of swinging fun!

A-Z Blogging Challenge – R & S

A-Z Blogging Challenge

This has been another one of those days, so we’re combining yesterday’s letter R post with today’s letter S.

The GOOD:

RELAX. Not only is this pandemic a good way for you to help save the world by relaxing at home, but I look it as a great chance for the world to relax. Things are not great, things will not be great for a while, but this is the chance for the world to catch a breath, and take a moment. The whole world.

SLEEPWEAR: You can spend your whole day in pajamas if you’re so inclined!  That is, if you wear them. See earlier post about N – Naked!

THE BAD:

RETURNING THINGS – Apparently, if you order online, you can’t return things until the stores open. Always a problem for online shoppers.

SUPPER – Who else is getting sick of finding new and creative things to make for dinner? You can only eat so much spaghetti!

THE UGLY:

REPUBLICAN – I hesitate using this word, because I don’t mean all republicans, and I don’t want to get political. But I don’t want to waste my letter T.  So when I say republican, I only mean one. And I’m not trying to offend anyone. If I did, you can stop reading now.

SEX – How is that even possible these days with the mandatory two feet distance??

There you have it; the good, the bad and the ugly about Covid-19, using the letters R and S! Stay safe everyone and comment if you can!

Blogging A-Z Challenge- Already at the letter Q…

Blogging A-Z Challenge

Welcome to Blogging A-Z Challenge!  The point is to post every day (I’m not that good at that, but I’ll try harder) every day in April (except Sunday), all having to do with a theme – mine is Covid-19 – and using the letters of the alphabet. I’m looking at the Good, the Bad and the Ugly about what’s going on.

We’re on letter Q – let’s go!

THE GOOD:

My favourite QUOTE about Covid-19 was a tweet from someone about how watching the government deal with Covid-19 is like watching the Ministry of Magic dealing with Voldemort’s return. I guess you need to be a Harry Potter fan!

THE BAD:

How QUICKLY this thing has spread over the globe. Seriously, we are a global nation.

THE UGLY:

The word QUARANTINE

That’s today’s post of the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of Covid-10. Stay safe and happy and feel free to comment!!

Happy Friday!

A-Z Blogging Challenge

I missed yesterday, so here’s N, O, and let’s throw P in there too, since I have a feeling I’m going to forget it too! I promise I’ll get on this next week!

Again, if you’re new to me, I’m participating in the A-Z Blogging Challenge this year, which involves me posting every day in April, except April. My theme is Covid-19 and I’ll be giving the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly about what’s going on, using the letters of the alphabet.

THE GOOD:

NETFLIX – I spent my fair share of time browsing Netflix but being quarantined means our household is spending a lot of time hanging on the couch with Netflix. Tiger King, anyone?

ONTARIO – I’m proud of how my province is handling things

POLICE – Thanks to all those who are still out there keeping the peace

THE BAD:

NAKED – I use this because I heard a bit of a news story about how police are requesting people put on their clothes when they go out to get their mail!  Now I’m wondering what my neighbors are up to 🙂

OVER-SLEEPING – Is this a thing? I really think it is in my house!

POLITICS – Keep politics out of this!

THE UGLY:

NEWS – I think the newscasters should suggest that people limit watching because it can be too much at times. Want to get paranoid? Feed yourself a steady stream of worst-case scenarios all day long

OVER-EATING – Are you bored? Eat a bag of chips!

PANDEMIC – the ugliest of all words.

And that’s it for me!  Have a great weekend and stay safe and healthy!

Playing Catch-up

A-Z Blogging Challenge

I’m not doing great at this challenge!  I’ve missed a couple of days—you’d think being stuck in quarantine would mean that I have lots of time for posting and other social media duties, but the fact is I have a book coming out in two weeks, with another close after, and there are a lot of little things I need to do about that.

I’ll try to make this more of a priority!

But in the meantime, here are a few posts all in one.

THE GOOD:

EDWARD JENNER: he was the first to develop a vaccine for smallpox, so we need to thank him for his brilliance and hope his spirit can help others discover a vaccine for this

KIDS – Everyone is going through this, but at least kids are young enough not to understand the full ramifications. And luckily, they’re the most resilient of the population, so they’re sure to bounce back, even with the schools.

LACK OF POLLUTION – The earth is finally able to take a deep breath, and I can’t help but be grateful for that. Have you seen the pictures of the sea turtles on the beaches? So wonderful!

MOTHERS – I put this in because it was my mother’s birthday a few days ago and I miss her like crazy. She and my dad are both high-risk so they’re being extremely careful, which means not letting me anywhere near her. I think that’s a good thing, but it’s still hard. xo

THE BAD:

MISSING A PIECE IN A JIGSAW PUZZLE – It happened to me. I hope you never share my pain and frustration!

KISSING – I miss this. Even when you’re quarantined with the person, it’s not the same

LAST MINUTE PLANS – I was a spontaneous person before this; now I need to plan every outing like I’m going on a 10-day adventure trip!

MAKING LOVE – see kissing above. It can be done; it should be done, but is it being done enough?

THE UGLY:

JERKS – these sorts are what is going to keep this quarantine going longer

KILLING US – Enough said

LAISSEZ FAIRE ATTITUDE – see JERKS above

MASKS – These are a godsend for the front-line workers, but seriously, have you worn one? With glasses? Maybe I’m selfish, and I’m definitely fortunate enough to not have to need one, but they are so not comfortable!!

So that is 4 posts in one!  Hope you don’t mind, and sorry to the Challenge gods if they catch me playing catch-up like this! Comment on anything you like!

I is for…

A-Z Blogging Challenge

It’s Friday (I think) and I’m back with Day Ten of the A-Z Blogging Challenge where I will be posting every day (except for Sundays), using a letter of the alphabet to discuss a theme. (Everyone’s worst nightmare, Covid-19) Today’s letter is I, and we’re off!

THE GOOD: INTROVERTS

If you are an introvert, this is easier for you. Introverts thrive on being alone and feel recharged whereas extroverts are happier being with others. Enjoying your own company is a plus during this time.

Except of course, when you have three introverts living in a house with two extroverts! It’s fun!!

In case you’re wondering, I’m one of the introverts. I’m used to spending the majority of my day alone, so constantly being with others is tough, but I didn’t want to use it for the BAD category. I’m dealing with it by waking up early most days, to get in a few hours of by-myself-time before the house is crowded with others

THE BAD: ISOLATION

This should be self-isolation, but it’s the letter I today, so give it to me! 🙂 How many think self-isolation is in the running for word of the year for 2020!

THE UGLY: IGNORANCE

This is what disgusts me – those who refuse to take this seriously. It’s a pandemic, people! People are dying! Stay off the beaches and try a virtual church service.

And that is the letter I. Come back tomorrow for J, and let me know in the comments what you think of all this.
