Hello all! Happy New Year!
Once again, I find myself beginning a post with the apology. I’ve been neglectful of late. Blogging is something I enjoy, but find difficult to make the time for; I’m an author to needs to rely on social media to get my books noticed but I spend most of my time writing the books, not the blog posts. A vicious cycle.
But I’m writing today for a few reasons – it’s the 3nd of January and I have a few resolutions I wanted to share. Also, Touch, my latest novel will be out on Jan. 19 and the PR department is revving up in anticipation. Plus, I want to touch base with my readers to let them know I’ll be moving my website with the hopes they will follow along.
Let’s begin with the resolutions.
5 Things I want to decrease, if not rid my life of in 2016.
Unnecessary drama – really, what’s the point? It sucks up too much time and energy and I don’t have enough hours in the day to concentrate on my own priorities, so why should I be bothered with someone who is creating a whole heap of drama. Not my circus, not my monkeys.
Feeling of obligation – Again with the lack of hours in a day. If I’m asked to do something, or invited to some event and it doesn’t excite me, then no go. I need to start drawing the line sometime.
Stop caring what others think about me – I’m not that important! As my mother loves to remind me, I’m not the centre of the universe. Chances are, even though I’m sweating the thought of how others perceive me, they really don’t give a damn.
Stop saying Yes to everything – This goes with the obligation thing.
Stop feeling guilty for everything – If I’ve done or said something to hurt another, then I should feel guilty and deal with the consequences. But if I think they think that I said something that would make them think – too complicated and way too time consuming. Just stop.
Reading over these, I’m feeling like a bit of a bitch but I’m trying to stop caring about what others think of me, so what do I care!? Hopefully, with the removal of these, my time and energy will stop being sucked into the swirling vortex of over-thinking things and I’m be more productive. This means more books for my readers! It’s a win-win situation for all.
And speaking of books…
