I received another great review for Husbands and Wives series! This one was for the Husbands! Thanks mylittlebookblog!!
Good afternoon readers, another saucy read for you today coming from the second installment of the ‘Husbands and Wives,’ series from Anna Ellis. Often when I start a series I read the first and the second books to get a real feel for the collection of stories as a whole and then decide whether it’s something I want to complete. Well after two incredibly steamy and saucy portions of this sequence of tales I can tell you that you’re definitely going to be hearing more from me on the wonderfully naughty Miss Anna Ellis. Since the explosion of the fifty shades franchise the book market has become saturated with copies however this one is a little different and I have to say I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it as you’ll see from this review.
Jacey and Dominic have moved into their new neighbourhood and despite her best intentions to remain aloof, Jacey has become friends with the wives on the street. But these women share a kind of friendship Jacey has to get used to – they share everything…including their husbands! This arrangement will provide some extra excitement, but can Jacey and Dominic’s marriage handle it when Jacey begins to get to know The Husbands?
Okay, so if you haven’t read my review of the first book is might be best to take a peek at thatfirst. The book follows, once again, the lovable Jacey and her delightful husband Dominic. In the first book they discover that their neighbours are rather interested in each other’s husbands and we get a peek at the ‘parties’ that go on behind the perfectly painted front doors of the neighbourhood residents. In the second instalment there is no holding back. Once again Jacey and Dominic are drawn into the lusty sharing of partners and parties held at Tia’s on a Saturday night. Once again no details are spared and we are thrust (excuse the pun) into the rather sordid nights where anything goes.
The writing as like the first book is strong and weaves a number of interweaving story lines. If I disregard the utterly racy sex scenes just for a moment there are a number of sub-plots that help to make this book more than a lusty book of sexual encounters. Take for example the relationship still brewing between Joe and Jacey. Although they are both caught up in the neighbourhoods kinky activities there is more between them and I can’t wait to see their relationship continue to develop. Additionally there are difficulties with trust between the couples and the cracks are starting to show whilst after their incredibly lusty night together, Jacey finds herself once again in the arms of Mahak; but this time their meeting is outside of the party. What rules now apply?
I actually found at times, the scenes outside of the bedroom the most interesting. Reading how the characters intermingle after their sordid nights is interesting and watching Jasey struggle with her conscience is wonderfully managed. In the last book I wanted to see more about the neighbourhood wives and this book definitely delivered.Melissa, despite her seemed confidence is at times doubtful and insecure. Tia is a sneaky character and I think she may become even more manipulative as the books go on but that is only a hunch from me.
I guess the only negative I can really come up with is, that as the series goes on I think it will inevitably become quite unbelievable. The first darted around it but managed to come over as believable and plausible this second one wasn’t as much, and I imagine that as the series goes on this will continue to occur. For me, it’s fine because that’s what I’m reading it for, but for some it might become a little tiring. I also think that Dominic could take a much more prominent role in the books. He could be a main character in his own right but becomes an almost minor character which I think is a shame.
Overall an undoubtedly saucy and sexy read that will get your pulse rating; I really enjoyed this although not a book I would normally go for and I’m looking forward to reading more and bringing you more exciting and erotic reviews. Definitely worth a read if you’re into all things saucy and steamy.
